Disablist

Disablist Hate Crime is any criminal offence that is motivated by hostility or prejudice based on the victims disability (including sensory, physical or mental impairment or learning difficulties)

It can take many form, including insults, verbal abuse, bullying, assault, theft, and damage to property.   Victims of disablist Hate Crime do not have to be registered as disabled.  Disablist Hate Crime is treating someone differently or unfairly simply because of their disability.

No one has the right to make you feel bad or abuse you.  If you have experienced disablist Hate Crime you can report it to Open Out.  There are also other support organisations and groups in our area and we've listed some of them below.

 

Groups and Support in Cambridgeshire

Learning Disability Partnership
The LDP is a joint team of health and social care professionals.  They can carry out assessments and organise support to meet any those needs.

Speaking Up provides advocacy services, self advocacy based projects and resources for people with learning difficulties, mental health issues and physical disabilities.

Disability Cambridgeshire is an advice and information service for disabled people and/or older people and their carers. They serve people of all ages in Cambridgeshire.

Red2Green
Red2Green is a registered charity which runs projects across Cambridgeshire providing leisure, educational and work opportunities for over 600 people with a wide range of disabilities, including mental health problems, learning disabilities, sensory impairments, physical disability and social communication disorders.

A Cambridge group which meets once a month for people with any disability
